How much are you guys interested in new turbos that retain the stock housings. Im planning on working some stuff out with deadbolt and plan on making turbos that have 400hp+ (350whp or so) out of the STOCK vf39 turbo!!! Perfect fitment and compatibility with everything (As its technically the stock vf39). They will do triple balance for the perfect balance and what not and these will come with tuned maps and what not. No downtime, NO BOOST CREEP, and yet retain the stock turbo. Any feedback is what im looking for from ya guys

Robert~

As long as it retains or improves the spool of the stock turbo, and hopefully will hold more boost to redline...then that would be awesome!

Default Very "Cool" Idea...

Exactly how far away from bolt-on are we talking here? I'm very interested.

hehe... by maps, I hope to cover everything... UTEC , AP, and hydra (although utec will be what im using for now - until I upgrade to hydra).

Heres what we're looking at. Stock VF39 turbo with Stage 1 upgrade - an addition 50-75hp! and Stage 2 90hp+! ALL WHILE RETAINING the stock turbo! The car could pass everything visually and this would also make any mod feesable without having to create custom uppipes/downpipes/oil lines/etc for big power. Im going to try out the stage 1 first and get it tuned and then stage 2. I will keep you guys posted!

Anyone can go out and buy a 18G or 20G, but some still have fitment problems, that and it DEFINITELY does not look like factory. These should make the same power, cost $400 or more less, all while retaining the stock look! ! As soon as I get my tuning in , I will be saving up for this project and will get this rolling asap! Thanks for the interest! I can see that this is going to turn out really well!

Also it will be a little laggier, but... so is a bigger turbo. The point is to save money, not worry about fitment and other issues, and look stock. The lag wont be much at all, but it will be slightly laggier (bigger wheels). I will post more info as I receive it! Thanks!

Robert~

Im going to be shooting for... $800 - Stage 1 Turbo (as much as a VF34, but will make 50 or so more hp!!!) and $950 - Stage 2 (~$500-600 less then a 20G with oil/water cooling and should make close to the same power!).

Default Those of you with thule yakima racks

I will be interested as long as you can show me dyno plots that the VF 39 Housing can perform like a GREEN OR 20G for $400-500 Less.

Good Luck.

Default correct fitment

$800 sounds like a lot of $ for just a turbine wheel. Its a good idea, and other platforms have been doing the same thing for years. But for far less than $800.

?? You do realize you have to buy the turbo, do a wheel swap, do a new wastegate design, fully balance the turbo... its not like im unbolting and rebolting on new wheels. The vf39 turbo alone costs $800 or so msrp. Anyways... I will be doing this for myself and will post the results. Those still interested can purchase or get more info and those not intersted, dont have to. Also this isnt just taking your turbo and swapping wheels. This is afull new turbo setup.

Robert~

BTW... they have a stage 2 VF39 that they told me originally costed $1600... so cut me some slack.

... Sman, you must realize something. Where does that one wire go (From the intercooler to....)? You cant stack 4 connector (wire 3, wire 4, and stock wire, and new ic wire) ends on one bolt on the intake manifold. The bolt is simply not long enough. Im trying to figure out a way to make you that wire, but its not working out. So please dont think im "screwing you" as I cant really help whats going on. Im probably just going to have a stretch of wire going straight to the battery, but i dont know if that will even work on the stock connector terminal. Vendors wont mess me up this time as im working with a good guy and will be buying stuff in advance. Im sorry things havent been perfect like before, but stuff like apexi wont happen again. I will just start taking loans or saving up and buying parts in advance.

the way you described it, it sounded to me like you were just getting a new wheel to put into our original stock turbo. I didn't realize this was for the ENTIRE turbo.

$800 for an entire upgraded turbo is a good price.

Did i catch you on a bad day or something? I didn't state my opinion in an attacking way.

Anyway..would it be possible for people to send in their stock turbo to be upgraded? If so, how much would this cost?

Look at it this way...once you get the new turbo in you can sell your stock vf39 and probably get back half of what you spent! Plus, NO down time!

So, yes I'm very interested too...wonder if we'll need new injectors/ fuel pump. Possibly on the smaller wheel upgrade, but IMO definately on the bigger one.
