IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2004 | What on earth does leaded racing gas have to do with using one EWG over another? Or was this a miss-type? |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2007 | well, im using a perrin ebcs and not a manual boost contoller, but running on spring alone i get 10 psi with the top port open. at 70% wgdc i can get 23 psi with the solenoid and the top port open. |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2005 | Any tips for my EWG setup in progress guys- I have the following and will be installing and tuning hopefully soon: (Stock VF39, TMIC) (1) Custom Helix flex uppipe for Tial F38 EWG, dumptube (2) Tial F38 EWG (3) HKS catless DP + Invidia G200 (4) DW 740cc injectors + walbro pump (5) PnP stock collectors, grimmspeed X-over pipe (6) Perrin EBCS (7) Perrin 65mm CAI (8) Silicone inlet (9) New 1-step colder NGK plugs I will be tuning using pump gas (93 oct.) probably at 19-20 PSI with Ray from TurboTek using opensource/Romraider. Questions: (1) Is there a 'best' Tial EWG spring(s) to get? (2) Will the Perrin EBCS be adequate, or should I plan on using a MBC too? (3) ? boost levels for tune? (I will probably be going for an aggressive, yet safe tune; I'm guessing around 20 PSI). (4) What power #'s you think I'll be looking at? Any other tips? thanks! IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2008 | Just have to add a comment. I finished the fabrication and install of my Tial 44mm onto the Invidia header/UP. Dang is that thing ever loud when it vents to atmosphere haha, can easily scare people with just the sound. I notice the turbo spools quicker and harder, that and my boost doesn't taper off in the top end. |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2005 | ^^^ Some good related nabisco articles: (1) Boost control FAQ: Boost Control FAQ: Read if you are thinking of buying one! - NASIOC (2) EWG's and tuning: External wastegates and tuning. - NASIOC (3) Tial f38 discussion: TiAL 38mm WG - NASIOC Re: EBCS, spring sizes with EWG from N.Z. performance car: "Using an electronic controller you can limit the supply of air to the wastegate through a solenoid arrangement that, in turn, increases the energy needed to lift the valve and the boost pressure level goes up. Bleeding off air supply to the wastegate into the atmosphere (basically tricking it) is another way to raise boost because less air is being supplied. Yes, you can control boost by changing the wastegate spring and it is very effective. But once you set it to, say, 1-bar (14.7psi), that will then be the lowest boost you could run. If that’s all your car can run based on your setup, then it’s a good, safe way of doing things and avoiding a costly meltdown." Last edited by FleaDog; 09-27-2008 at 05:42 AM.. |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2006 | That article is a little misleading. You can run less boost than 14.7psi w/1bar spring. 14.7psi is just when the wg opens. If the spring pressure is too low regardless of which type of boost controller used(manual or ebcs) it opens the wg too early and desired boost levels can't be reached. Our cars like .9 or 1. bar springs. Last edited by neverendingmods; 09-27-2008 at 11:20 AM.. |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2005 | OK, planning-out my EWG hook-up to my Ingersoll EBCS... My references: (1) tial EWG guide PDF: http://www.tialmedia.com/documents/w..._wginstall.pdf (2) From perrin's site. PDF 3-port EBCS setup w/ EWG: http://www.perrinperformance.com/sha.../asmint720.pdf (3) My ingersoll-rand/ARO premair 3-port EBCS: (4) another: (5) the perrin: SO, I will T-off the bottom airfitting on the EWG to the "IN" barb on the BCS, and to the compressor/intake/boost source, attach top air fitting to the "OUT" barb on the BCS, and the 3'rd barb ("EXH") attaches to nothing to vent, right? Ive seen the previous posts about some guys just using the bottom barb, and leaving the top open/plug'd. And my last question, if a MBC is also wired-in, how is it done? Is it either ebcs OR mbc, or can both be used at once, and for what benefits? (I've got the 1 bar (big blue) spring, and my goal for tuning will be 19-22 PSI max).
